Working with partners and Milner Brothers Logging Co. out of Thompson Falls, the Lower Clark Fork Watershed Group helped build 30+ log jams along a mile of Fishtrap Creek in the Thompson River Basin in July.
The Milner’s cable yarding system hauled and placed over 100 logs in the stream to add cover and spawning gravels for fish that call this creek home. With equipment set up on an adjacent road, this technique allowed for controlled placement of structures while minimizing construction disturbances to the streamside areas.
This awesome habitat work would not be possible without our partners: Lolo National Forest, Trout Unlimited, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, NorthWestern Energy, Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative, and the National Forest Foundation.
