2017 Bull River Calendar April – The First Homesteaders

The first people to homestead in the Bull River valley were Cap and his brother Jim Berray. After Montana became a state in 1889, they traveled up the river and located their claims on natural meadowland nestled under the mountains. This is the land and open wetland/meadows seen from Highway 56 at the 8 mile bridge near the junction with East Fork Bull River road at the base of Berray Mountain, named for these brothers.
