NorthWestern Energy is requesting volunteers to help cut willows to be used on a bank stabilization project on Thompson Falls Reservoir. The goal of the project is to stabilize the eroding bank, reduce the amount of sediment entering the reservoir, and to establish healthy riparian habitat for bugs, birds, and fish. Getting enough dormant willow cuttings will be key to the success of this project.
Please join us on Nov. 6 at 8:30 AM at Power Park in Thompson Falls to venture out to cut willows. Please bring warm clothes, gloves, waders if you have them, or muck style boots. NorthWestern will provide lunch and loppers (pruning shears) for cutting. If have your own loppers, please bring them.
RSVP to Andrew.Welch@NorthWestern.com so that NorthWestern can bring plenty of food for lunch.
